Hire the Right People
My position at LEAD Marketing Agency is unique because I am the only person on staff who does not have a marketing background – I work in Accounting and Human Resources. During my 3 ½ years at LEAD, it has been interesting to see how often the fields of marketing and human resources can intersect. A huge part of human resources is hiring…so for this post, it makes sense to explore the crossover between hiring practices and marketing.
The current unemployment rate is 4.2% (September 2017), a drop from 8.2% five years ago.
The low rate we are seeing is fantastic for many Americans, but it means there is an added challenge for companies looking to hire the right person for a job, which is imperative to the financial success of an organization. It goes without saying that to find the right person, you need a variety of candidates to apply for an open position. Unfortunately, many companies are finding they are not getting the volume of applicants that will ensure they end up with the most qualified and desirable candidate in front of them at interview time. Employers need to work harder (or at the very least smarter) to find the right candidates. One way to do this is to use social media.
Social media usage has long been popular with the 18-29-year-old demographic with 65% of them using at least one social media site all the way back in 2008. As of 2016, 80% of 30-49 year-olds use social media, and an astounding 69% of the total US population. Social media is becoming one of the best places to reach Millennial and Generation X audiences.
When considering how to reach your audience on social media the number of options for a human resource employee can be terrifying. One solution? Work with our digital specialists at LEAD Marketing. They will help you figure out what social channels work best for your unique needs, time your posts for maximum engagement, create content and schedule its release. In addition, LEAD can help develop and design a company LinkedIn/Twitter/Facebook/Instagram page, layout a short-term and long-term recruitment campaign that will work for your company, and bring in 30-50% more applicants than if you weren’t using social media.
Don’t let turnover and poor job applicants become a financial strain on your company. Instead, let LEAD help you recruit and hire the people that will make you more successful. For more information email: firstname.lastname@example.org or call 616-551-3488.
