Finding Inspiration Amidst all the Marketing Noise

As creatives and marketers, we’re always working on the next big idea. We’re continually trying to get an edge on competitors’ brands and establish our clients as leaders in their respective industries. It’s more than just looking for the latest trend to take an idea to the next level. It takes time, research, and effort to find the right solution in the constant-changing landscape of marketing, design, and advertising.

How can we find the inspiration amidst all the noise? We can turn to everyday occurrences—chatting with colleagues, taking a virtual museum tour, participating in a creative workshop, or following industry thought-leader’s blogs—we need to make connections outside of ourselves. Being creative isn’t about coming up with an idea on our own; it’s about connecting ideas from multiple sources and learning to see something in a new way.

Creativity may come more naturally to some than others, but that doesn’t mean we can’t seek ways to boost our creativity. Here are a few ideas to help inspire creative thinking:

Invest in Wellness

A good night’s sleep, healthy food, and routine exercise are fundamental to creativity. Without the basics, you don’t stand a chance at generating ideas.

Practice Mindfulness

Mindfulness is known to boost creativity and generate new ideas—different practices, whether meditation or taking a walk in the woods, have positive and creative outcomes.

Find a Hobby

Making time for something you enjoy doing can give creativity a big boost. Hobbies create work-life balance and offer an escape from the day-to-day.

Visit a New Place

(virtual, if necessary)

New sounds, sights, and tastes spark different senses in the brain, generating new thoughts and ideas. Planning for a trip is a great exercise—sometimes just what creativity needs to get a jump start.
